Well after I agreed with the SWMBO that I wouldn't buy any more brewing equipment I went on a commercial beer buying spree.

We were in Chicago this last weekend to watch the Bears beat up on the Packers. (Which they did even if it was -3 with the wind chill.)

Wow! That's an impressive shopping trip. I would be happy just to have the empty bottles!

You bought all that Bell's, and you didn't get any 2-hearted ale?

Either way, I'm freakin' jealous.

I've got 5gals of a Two Hearted clone on tap so i wasn't inclined to purchase any. I also saw for the first time Bells Two Hearted Ale in the 5liter mini kegs for $19.99. Those are bad news for me, well at least the 5liter Oberon mini kegs. I feel that it is my duty that once I open one I have to finish it the same evening.

I can't wait to try the Bell's Sparkling Ale. A 9% American Triple, mmm! :mug:

Why did you do that (the agreeing part)?

In the 8 months I have been brewing I have amassed a large amount of equipment.

Currently here is a short list of what I have in our tiny 1 car garage.

18cft lagering fridge
23cft fermenting freezer
14 kegs
700lbs of grain, give or take 25lbs
20lbs of hops
8 cases of 12oz bottles
4 cases of 16oz swing tops
4 cases of champange/750ml bottles
2 Converted Sanke kegs for HLT & BK
1 Converted Sanke keg for fermenter/yeast
2 turkey fryers
3 20lb Propane tanks
1 20lb CO2 tank
1 medium size beer gas tank
2 5shelf units full of adjunt grains, chemicals and misc brewing items
Unconverted Sanyo 4912 mini fridge
Approx 20 brewing books
7years of Zymurgy
7years of BYO
6years of Brewing Techniques
2 20gal fermenters
4 14gal fermenters
7 5-6.5gal carboys
6 1gal carboy/jugs for expermential batches
22qt Preasure cooker
250 18ml test tubes & caps
Glassware flasks (2x1000ml, 1x2000ml, 1x5000ml, 2x100ml, 2x250ml, 2x500ml)
Stir Plate

Portable Chilling station, drops 10gal of boiling wort to 58deg in about 10mins.
(Holds a 20gal barrel for ice & water, space for a 20gal fermenter and outlets/switches to power the sump pump and March pump, plus space for my Blichman plate chiller)

Almost 10 combined cases of commerical brew and another 4 cases of my home brew

Approx 30 total feet of 2x2 and 3x3 square tube steel
Two mash tuns

All of that equipment has been purchased, gifted or built since April 2007. So believe me when I say that agreeing for me to not purchase any more equipment was a win-win agreement.

Where's the car??? :D

Nice buys. Alpha King is my old standby. Never does me wrong and so easy to find at any half decent bar or bottle shop in Chicago...

though seeing as how you got some Stone and some Bell's, me thinks you did your shopping in Indiana. If you scored that stuff in IL...where?

I can attest to the cramped conditions in that garage!

Glad to hear you had a successful trip. I had no idea you were going to the game - I was shivering just watching it on TV!!!

I live in Chicago but havent been able to find Stone here. Maybe im not looking hard enough, where did you purchase that?
cheers

thank you skewed, ill have to take a ride out there cos my binnys doesnt carrry it
cheers

No Stones at the Binnys on Halsted :( so i stocked up on Bear Republic instead.. im thinking
finding this stuff is going to require a trip to Indiana

You can get Bear Republic in Chicago? Road Trip!

How about Pliny?

I had a bottle of that N'ice Chouffe Limited Edition 2007 myself. It was part of a Xmas beer package my wife got for me. Though I wanted to keep it to age longer, I couldn't resist. It was rather tasty! Luckily I live in Asheville, NC where the #3 Best Beer Store in the World is located, so I can get more anytime ;) I think last year they were rated #2... Bruisin' Ales. What up, Julie?!?! What up, Jay?!?!
