Steeping grains in 5 gallon kettle. Heating water in 7.5 gallon kettle. Warming LME in water behind steeping kettle. Yes, I could get a full 5 gallon boil on my stove!
Steeping grains ~155* for 30 minutes.
Heating 4 gallons of water to boiling.
5 gallons of water boiling with 1/2 of LME added.
Steeping grains for an additional 10 minutes off heat after 30 minutes on heat.
Keeping LME warm.
Adding hops in bag.
During 60 minute boil.
Dropped my hydrometer! tip of smaller end broke off.
Cooling the wort.
Cooling the wort. Cooled to below 80* in about 15 minutes!
Re-hydrating the yeast. Boiled water for 20 minutes to sanitize, cooled to ~100*, added yeast, let sit for 5 minutes, stirred and let sit for 10 minutes.
