Since specific gravity is a measure of density, you can weigh the fermenter before and after
filling it and then calculate volume from there.

I really like my Monster Mill. The no-frills model can be had for $139. A little bit of time

That's some seriously beefy tubing for a brew stand. You could use half that wall thickness and
cut the weight by quite a bit. For $20 per 8 ft (plus shipping), you can even order it online!
