  • Posted in thread: Will deer eat my hops? on 11-25-2014 at 08:29 PM
The deer around my place here in NorCal have destroyed my Hops for the last two years. I'll be
putting a fence around them for next year. They typically leave them alone until the end of
    summer when o...

My Cascade is ready to harvest, but I can't get my Centennial to grow worth a damn. Stupid
thing can't even climb the twine right. :fro:

  • Posted in thread: Primary Fermenter without Airlock on 02-25-2014 at 04:03 PM
The airlock has no bearing on how long a beer should ferment. I'd let it sit for another week
then check your gravity. If it stays the same for a few days then you are ready to bottle.

I was there a couple of months ago. We hit the Hofbrauhaus and we loved it. It's not really
regional, but was fun. That's if you like German beer. I had the Original(Munich Helles) &
    Oktoberfest and t...

  • Posted in thread: Best size BK for 5 gallon brew on 01-16-2014 at 04:23 AM
I'd personally use the 28qt as an HLT and 15g as the BK. Trying to boil in a pot that is too
small is a real pain and messy as hell. That's been my experience anyway.

  • Posted in thread: cold-brew or whole beans for coffee porter? on 01-11-2014 at 06:00 AM
I know this question is very subjective based on one person's like of coffee vs the next. So
I'll ask this way. If you use cold brew, whole beans or crushed beans in a muslin bag...how
    much do you use...

  • Posted in thread: Simcoe, Amarillo or Citra...? on 12-31-2013 at 03:01 AM
I'd go with Citra and save the Simcoe & Amarillo for late additions.

  • Posted in thread: Why is my ABV so low? on 12-29-2013 at 07:41 PM
Thanks for all the info. As of right now I am using beer kits. It comes with one little packet
of yeast. If I want to get more aggressive with my yeast pitch to raise my ABV ; do I just buy
    another ye...

  • Posted in thread: Is my pot big enough? on 12-29-2013 at 07:25 PM
I would not try it with that little room, knowing how much hot brake or foaming I get when
doing hop additions to my wort...If I tried that in your pot set up..I'd have wort all over the
    place...If it...
