  • I got into home brewing because of my brother and mostly my girlfriend's father. I started out doing extract batches here and there. I used a 3 gallon pot another 1 gallon and 2 carboys.rnrnNow I have about 6 carboys 5 gal and 6.5 gal (3 each) I have a 6 gallon pot, an 8 gallon pot and a 15.5 gallon keggle. I have yet to use the keggle because I need a burner for outside but I am very anxious to use it. I also have a 5 gallon mash tun which I think I am going to switch that to a 10 gal.rn

I just made my own copper manifold and had enough copper piping and fittings to make a second
manifold so I am wondering if anyone would like to purchase the additional one. I would be

I am, I'm brewing a smoked ale. Almost 6lbs of Beachwood and Cherrywood smoked malt together
for this 5.5 gallon batch. I'm looking for some intense smoke for this beer! I am also
    upgrading my MLT to ...

Haha this happened to me before although ot that far in but I used a orange peeler to get it
out. It is the kind that is a strong plastic and one end has a sort of hook on it. That thing

  • Posted in thread: New to all-grain. Is Blichmann best? on 11-28-2012 at 10:00 PM
I would say that Blichmann is good but overpriced. I would stick to a 10 Gallon SS pot, I like
the thicker walled ones like the Megapot from Northern Brewer, I would get one with a ball
    valve at least...

  • Posted in thread: Long sparging process on 11-28-2012 at 12:08 AM
An hour is relatively normal if you are fly sparging, but batch sparging should be quicker. Did
you add any rice hulls to the recipe? They should help out with this. Also make sure you get
    the grain b...

I just tried my triple. it's only been in the bottle for about 3 months. And it wasn't so good.
I'm thinking of going to let it sit for probably another 2 or 3 months before I try again.I

Did you take an original gravity reading? There can be fermentation without a large krausen.
You can judge how your fermentation is going by taking either a hydrometer or refractometer
    reading in the ...
