Okay, it's not that big of a deal to do my dishes at the same time. It was kind of a joke. The
main question was if I need to do anything aside from put the bottles in the washer and run the
    sanitize ...

A few I did and a few I didn't. Even the chilled ones went over some. (I didn't know that would
matter though- I've been making wine for a few years and I am just starting on cider)

My cider is so bubbly that every time open one it foams over. Did I do anything wrong? It also
seems to lose it's fizz fast once it is poured.

I have about 18 bottles of cider that I am ready to pasteurize. Do I just set it in the
dishwasher and run it on the sanitation setting? Dumb question- any reason I can't do dishes at
    the same time? l...

This is my first batch of cider. Up until now I have made fruit wines, grape wines from kits
and beer from kits. So it will be my first sparkling beverage made from scratch. It has

I added yeast to my cider yesterday and it does not appear to be fermenting., The cider jug
said it had less than 1/10 of 1% potassium sorbate for freshness and I suspect that might be
    the reason. Wha...

I was concerned that there would be too much pressure for the bottles. I have had wine corks
pop out on me before, but it sounds like that isn't an issue here. I'm disappointed to hear it
    will take si...

I have 5 gal of cider from the farmer's market. I plan to dissolve 3 pounds of honey into it
along with champagne yeast and let ferment to about 1.01. Then what? I have sorbistat k and
    camden tablets,...

  • Posted in thread: Does my store bought cider have to be unpasteurized? on 11-03-2009 at 11:27 PM
I can't find unpasteurized cider here anywhere. I have considered making my own but I'm not
sure if that is necessary. Can I use a jug of cider from Sam's? It has apples, potassium
    sorbate and sodium ...
