    ABOUT ME

  • Michael
  • I'm only doing extract brewing for now, but I've got about half of the items I need to go AG. My kegging setup is almost done. I've got over a dozen batches under my belt in the last year and I've really been enjoying it! All of the beers have turned out well, some better than others, but very drinkable! I've done a few recipes from Extreme Brewing. That was my guide for my first beer.

  • Maple Brown Ale, Imperial Pale Ale, Black IPA, Apricot Honey Wheat, Pumpkin Pie Porter, Cream Ale

I've used Coopers and I'm pretty sure it's just 1 per 12 oz bottle and 2 for 22 oz bombers.
That's also the description on the NB site for the Coopers tabs. They have worked well for me,
    but take longe...

I agree with jsv1204 above. The amount of carbonation depends on the amount of sugar. There are
priming calculators out there that will allow you to figure the volume of sugar based on the
    level of ca...

I took the sample before pitching. I know its neither here nor there, its just that this is our
2nd AG so we're trying to keep a close eye on our efficiency.I must have been quoting and

He pitched the yeast. So no, your hydrometer sample will not be representative of what he has
now. It will have started fermenting.Do you NEED readings to make good brew? Heck no! Relax,
    try not to br...

Kegconnection.com usually has them, but they aren't on their site right now. They may be out of
stock or really low on stock. You could still call them and sometimes they can hook you up.

If you so the set it and forget it method it will take around a week to get drinkable (to
me...) and then I usually give it another week before I really think it's good, but that does

I harvested yeast from a two-hearted ale a couple of weeks ago. I did it on a whim without
doing research so I did a regular starter amount. (Also, if I had it to do over, I would have

A different guy at the same supplier seems to think that this short a run will have no problem

  • Posted in thread: Should I add water? on 02-23-2012 at 03:09 PM
It won't kill the yeast. It may disrupt them for a bit, but you should be fine. It is still
early enough that you want O2 in there for the yeast to do their things so oxidation is not a
    concern. If yo...
