  • As soon as I became more interested in all different types of beer, I met a friend that introduced me to how simple home brewing can be. I basically got started the next week!

Started with a Rogue Dead Guy extract clone. Pretty good, not perfect.

Second we brewed a Rochefort 8 clone. Pretty darn good.

Third, we decided to branch out and get a little bit experimental with a dunkelweizen recipe... not great.

    The future is looking brighter.

So I originally planned on doing a Double Decoction for a Hefeweizen I am (currently) brewing.
I decided against it due to time constraints. The mash temps for 60 minutes were actually
    closer to 145 d...

I need to check for the green light. Maybe it's something to do with the freezer (though I
don't see how if it doesn't have power?). It contains my 5 gallons of beer in a carboy. Luckily

I'm using a chest freezer and the Johnson controls A419 to control the fermentation temps. I
properly set the SP (65) and DIF (3) but for some reason, it lets the freezer cool all the way
    down to 52 b...

So... I just tasted New Belgium's Belgo-IPA and it totally reminds me of the easiest beer I
have ever made in my life, so I thought I would pass along the info. Ya, it probably isn't by

I have had to waste more than a couple batches... Brewing is a tough science when you lack the
right equipment! As to thermometers, I am still using the same one that reads 8 high. (Taylor

Well, having tried a weizen myself using a dry yeast, I can say that the results were not
great. I contacted the company (mine was actually Fermentis) and they suggested-"We found that

I have my beer in the fridge section currently, but I am thinking about trying something-

I kegged five days ago after the ten days of fermentation was up. Since it was my first time
kegging, I was a bit impatient so I tried the shake method. Basically I set it to 30 psi and
