  • I was in a Friar Tuck's picking up a mixed six and found a starter kit in the home brew section. I thought it looked like fun so I picked it up. I found this site searching for home brew, and became obsessed. Less than a year later I bought a 10g beverage cooler and a turkey fryer, and switched to all-grain. Currently trying to convince the SWMBO that a kegerator would look really good in the kitchen.

    Just checked Beer Smith and it says Amber 22 srm, and Brown 65. I made a batch based on the BYO
    article, and it came out great. I would definitely recommend giving home toasted malt a try.

    Thanks for the response. That's good to know. In the future I plan on converting a 10 g cooler
    for my mash tun, and using my 5 g for a HLT or for partial mashes in the winter.

    Schlenkerla, Decatur is only 45 min from here, but I don't know of any clubs around. There is
