  • I've just recently started home brewing, using the Coopers home brew kit. Just picked up a couple of 5 gallon better bottles. Trying to get a line on kegs to try my hand at that.

    I use tap water to top off all the time, and in my last beer I didn't boil my honey addition
    and didn't have any issues.

    From everything I have read you shouldn't boil your honey. Just add it in.

    I used 3 gallons of water and steeped the grains at 160 for 30 mins. Then I added the malt
    extract and brought to a boil. I then added the hops for the next 70 mins or so. Used a wort
    chiller and rack...

    You could try and use some vinegar to try and get rid of the smell, but over all I don't think
    it would be worth it.
