  • I Got into homebrewing when I was 18 actually, I went on a camping trip and saw a mr. beer kit and thought I can do that... so I brewed wine (go figure) my first batch was about 1/16th of a 5gallon bucket mini roses, 3 oranges, 3lbs sugar and 5 peppercorns turned into a tea then fermented in the bucket (one gallon batch) using bread yest bought from meijer. I have yet to try it but I bottled it may 2012 exactly two years after brew day. Now I am up to five gallon batches, aging in oak barrels, and working with investors to open a nanobrewery in the metro detroit area. How the times have changed!
  • I am looking to get back into mead making and explore the braggot field but my future brews right now are alot of Gruit Style ales that I want to commercialize
  • Gaelic Dream (Irish Red base with 1oz mugwort instead of hops, 3gal batch)rnJPA (Joes Pale Ale... I had a 1.5 year old grain bag from either a red or scotch ale and 2oz hops so you put it all together and viola! I am scared of this one)

I'm proud of you!Thank You! Now I'm into all grain, propane burners, and oak barrels! Good luck
doing that as a minor unless your parent brews!

Not that I am promoting it but I am just barely 21. I started when I was 18 because making beer
isn't like being a dumb drunk teen. It's science and experimentation and it's a pain in the
    butt unless ...

One of my local microbreweries (Kuhnhenn) had the same tast with their witbier, it reminded me
of summer sausage. Its most likely the corriander, I found it to be kind of pleasing to be
    honest, like d...

  • Posted in thread: Is it ok to brew beer if I don't have a beard ?? on 07-27-2012 at 02:22 PM
I have seen numerous posts of brew days and noticed that even though only a small portion of
the general population has beards it seems to be a mandate for home brewers ....... Any
    theories on this ?B...

Here is the route I would go BTU so you can do your small batches and get it up to boil quick,
or do some larger batches and this thing almost sips propane for how big it is.

  • Posted in thread: Please help me name my brewery! on 07-27-2012 at 01:47 PM
You cant just come up with a name like it was nothing, it needs meaning. I have been pondering
this concept for several months now and still have not settled on something. When the time
    comes you will...

I wet the oak cubes with tap water and then nuke (microwave) for a couple minutes. Once they
are steaming I dump them right into the Bourbon I am going to use and allow them to soak for a
    week or two ...

Note that water additions are based on adjusting Poland Spring bottled water to the mineral
profile from the Polish paper, so your additions may vary (and I didn't actually do the epsom
    salt or calciu...

I am not sure how much turkey fryers are in your area but they average a good $55-65 which in
reality is not all that much especially since youre getting 54,000 BTU (Give or take depending

Youre beer is going to be fine, it may impact the body but in such a small amount that you
probably wont notice. Youre just boosting the ABV
