  • I received a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas.
    I have brewed four batches so far;
    We just bottled our third batch with one in the barrel.
    1.Pale Ale
    2.Irish Stout
    3.High Country Canadian Draft
    4.Vienna Lager
    I just mixed my first Mead after reading about it for weeks.
    I made my own variation of clove honey and molasses W/lime juice and cinnamon as nutrients. I thought "what the heck" if I don't do it now I'll be thinking about it for weeks to come.
    I used what I had in the cupboard.
    Growing up my father made homebrew. I would sneak to the basement after school and have an occasional cup.
    that was the start of my downfall. Ha Ha
    I seldom drink beer. If I do it's usually o'douls or beck's. I do like the taste of beer and some wines but frankly I don't want to encourage the large breweries. My choice. Homebrewing is a compromise to me. I don't encourage over-indulgence but moderation is fine.
  • Wheat beer
    I put apple cider mix in 2 of my sample bottles of the Canadian Draft.
    We set aside smaller bottles to test after a week and then 2 weeks. A person has to make sure, right?
    I know some people criticize Mr. Beer. Too Small. Bad Yeast. Bad Malt. Rank Amateur products. Who cares? I think they are great and the people we've shared with have thought the beers were very good. Also, we like them. I think that is what counts.

    What did I know? Helped dad bottle in the basement. Came home from school and sampled the brew.
    Who knew I would be brewing my own now. Yes, We had blowups in the basement. Too soon or too
    much sugar....

    My beer came out very good. I did have a problem with a bottle I opened a week ago. It was over
    carbonated. It was 3/4 full. It was the tail end of the fermentor. I usually drink those
    partial bottles...

    I made up 2 gallons of wheat with DME .042 O.G.and 2 gallons of Dark DME .040 O.G.I don't give
    them fancy names, we just drink it.2 weeks to bottling and 2 weeks to drinking.

    You could drink it in 2 weeks in bottles. It will ferment in 4 days but I wait at least a week
