Fwiw I use a 1800W induction burner in combination with a 1500w heat stick. Works perfectly for
8-9 gallon boils. No drilling, cheap and efficient.., the heat stick took 30 mins to

Doubt this. Some beers have no fix. I just don't understand what the big deal is with hanging

I'd probably do something like that but for that big a beer I'd up the bittering - i'd shoot
for 180+ calculated IBUs - and back off on the crystal malt. I've done something similar,
