    I've heard that you should not age any corked beer in a refrigerator. It will dry it out and
    cause oxidation. Seems fine for capped brews

    The equipment that is used to make a whiskey barrel are extremely expensive and dangerous!
    Unless you know some rustic fellows with experience, I don't think it would be feasible.
