hmm, my favorite up here in the U.P. of Mich ... I know this is an all grain thread but jfyi

yes, if you put a whole 5 gal in a 5 gal carboy you'd need a blowoff tube instead of an airlock
as there is too little room left for the krausen .... maybe spend another 15 bucks and get a

  • Posted in thread: First time kegging - need help!!! on 12-14-2010 at 10:31 PM
I also force carb and most people kegging does the same! The reason I used 10-12 psi was that

    adding another...

  • Posted in thread: Low O.G. on my second batch on 12-01-2010 at 09:46 PM
I use the NB extracts exclusively so far .... lots of syrup can stick to the containers so I
put them in simmering water while I soak the grain and get up to a boil.... I put the caps on
    and let them ...

  • Posted in thread: When you force card are you drinking green beer? on 12-01-2010 at 07:00 PM
And what happens if you carb up and the beer doesn't taste as it should? Are you stuck with 5
gallons of premature beer?Even after carbing it will condition with time and taste will improve
    if no inf...

  • Posted in thread: Fermentation Time on 12-01-2010 at 06:48 PM
I allow at least 2 weeks in the fermenter, or 4 for hi-gravity. If you bottle you then have to
add a couple weeks but force carbing in a keg can give very good results in 2 days, so 3 weeks
