    ABOUT ME

  • Im a mid-twenties dork homegrown outside Chicago in a town called McHenry. I migrated to Washington care of a four year tour of duty aboard the USS Ohio submarine as a mechanic. I chose Washington because of family living here and i had fallen in love with the area as a young boy.
I became interested in craft beers after my aunt opened my eyes with a Mac N' Jacks Africa Amber. From there i was hooked. Eventually i became good friends with a few of the brewers of Poulsbo (there are four) and volunteered my services to Dave of Slippery Pig Brewery. I'm helping anyway i can and learning every way i can.
I've secured a position at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a mechanic, just the same as my navy job, and am perusing a Bachelors in occupational-technical-studies with instructor emphasis (mouthful).
I can be found supporting the intrepid Seattle Sounders FC as a member of the Emerald City Supporters, riding motorcycles, pouring at beer festivals, snowboarding one of the many mou

  • Jumped right into an all grain set-up as it was what i learned on.
First beer was a "bay leaf bitter" - Came out very bitter but also clean finishing and pleasant
"Comfy clothes winter luxury pumpkin ale" - an elaborate attempt to recreate a pumpkin ale i had at a beerfest, i jumped the gun and needed to age longer but it aged incredibly well. I used a locally grown winter luxury pumpkin which is naturally sweet and was baked with all the pumpkin pie ingredients and went into the boil with more of the spices.
"AbbeygAle" was my first attempt at an Abbey style - too high of fermentation temp and soured
"Muchen" - a munich only base with little hop addition to see how it tasted, result was not that great
"A Beer" - two row only base and a light cascade hop for another fact finding mission, it got infected and tastes like floor cleaner.

Currently discouraged and bitter about the last two beers going bad, reconfiguring my system to a brewstand instead of the bastardized set up i
