Our local brew pub uses teflon threat tape around the twist tops of the growlers they sell. The
tap, screw then wrap thread tape around the outside. always seamed to keep it fresh and sealed.

Factory on the Barley Mill is like .039, something like that, but if it is still at factory
set, leave it. I monkeyed with mine, made it smaller and it locked up my mash re-circulation.
