    It was Oct 13th. The starter is milky but has no sediment. It looks like there is an 1/8th inch
    of clear liquid at the top but no sediment. I'm guessing they are still working.

    The rhizomes should be fine. If you are worried about temps dropping at night, throw some more
    mulch (up to 3 or 4 inches) for insulation. If buds start to pop and temps drop, just cover
