  • I first brewed from an extract kit when I was 13/14 but this wasn't very successful. I persevered though and continued to brew maybe twice a year until I went all grain at about 20 years old although agin this was only a couple of times a year.

    I launched myself headfirst into brewing regularly in December 2005 when I moved into a house with a big enough garage to brew in rather than mess up the kitchen.

    I now have a 55l brewlength, single tier HERMS brewery and a temperature controlled conical fermenter.

    In December 2005, together with some other local brewers I started the North Hampshire Brewers to try to get brewers together to share knowledge, and beer! Now 2 years on the club regularly has between 8 and 12 attendees every month.

    I have also been a member of Durden Park Beer Circle since May 2007. If you don't know who these guys are then google them. The quality of my beers has increased dramatically since I joined the circle.

  • Durden Park Beer Circle have a document with over 600 pre-1914 beer recipes that they've extracted from the original brewing ledgers from various UK breweries. I would like to take a style, say pale ale, and brew examples from the earliest to the latest within the document to see how the style evolved over the course of 200 years or more.

    What do you mean by a "Firkin setup"? You can use firkins either connected to a beer engine or
