  • Homebrewer off and on for 16 years. Looking to kick things back off after a 2 year break. Have built a HERMS and small Keezer to take things up a notch.

  • Started in 1995 after discovering that Sam Adams had "seasonal" beers that were unavailable days after I tried one and enjoyed it. Decided to ask the question "I wonder if I can brew beer?" Took off from there. Never invested in the equipment to go all grain, although desperately wanted to. Moving every 2 years makes it hard to want to collect too much gear. Got into designing my own recipes, just because its more "real" that way.
Looking for plans, tips to design and build a RIMS or HERMS. I'm a DIY'r who is currently renting my home (so I don't get to work on it) and need to vent my need to build on a new project. Figure building a system would help get me brewing again (haven't brewed in over 2 years).

Life has gotten in the way of enjoying homebrew. I built this HERMS a few years ago and had
some great brews from it but for the past 2 years its sat in the corner of the garage, unused.
    I don't think...

This is hands down the most dangerous thread I've found yet. I am in the same boat in that I've
just purchased a house with a very nice/new wet bar. However, this bar is totally impractical.

Burke, VA here. Pretty jealous that the MD brew scene seems to have their act together more
that VA. Since when does THAT happen???

Hey gang, When playing with software or manually calculating mash numbers and efficiencies, how
does one account for a HERMS setup? It isn't necessarily a batch sparge (or is it?). I'm trying
    the Beer...

Here I sit. 30mins left on my boil for AG number two, drinking some of batch one, on tap. It's
moments like these that make me believe that all is right in the world. :mug:

Yep, I've got a website now.
