  • Posted in thread: Alcoholic taste from trub on 02-17-2015 at 02:31 AM
I think the best thing to take away is that trub tastes weird. It's got all kinds of stuff in
it. Don't worry about that unless you plan on drinking and serving bottles of trub.

In a lot of basic brewing how to's I see warnings to avoid agitation because of hot side
aeration. Has this been debunked more or less? Here's my favorite hsa exbeeriment He basically

Why would you ever need more than 3 gallons per minute flow? Are you in some sort of speed
brewing contest? This question illustrates that you and I aren't talking about the same pump.
    Mine is the sec...

It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look too good either. It needs separate 12V power, the case
isn't even slightly splashproof, It only does heating or cooling, not both, and it's in
    Celsius. I doubt...

I Agree, it might be a good bulletpoint, but there's simply no reason to pay more for the heat.
I've never heard of a homebrewer who did forced fermentation tests. That's the only possible
    use.

I have one of the smaller pumps. It's basically garbage for brewing. It gets stuck up with
grain super easily, it's a pain to keep lines on, and doesn't pump much volume. Save your
    money.

  • Posted in thread: Will bottling stop the souring process? on 02-01-2015 at 04:29 PM
Depending on the bugs, they may or may not produce co2 so you generally don't want to bottle
    before they are done working.

  • Posted in thread: So I need feedback on 02-01-2015 at 04:14 PM
Also, to clear things up wax will do absolutely nothing to withstand the pressure. Even on pro
bottle releases it is mostly for looks. Adding it to a twist off cap is very similar to doing
    it with mas...

The real test will come when I need to rack to a couple of purged kegs in a week or so.So how
    did it go?!

  • Posted in thread: bottling cap on 02-01-2015 at 01:14 AM
buying used, or borrowing from a friend are the only cheap options. Craigslist always has a few
regulators around me. I bought a cap cheap from aliexpress, but it took forever to get here
    from china.
