  • I originally attempted to homebrew in 1970, with little success, due to a complete lack of ingredients / suppplies. My son re-introduced me in 2007.
My setup is strictly K.I.S.S.- plastic buckets for fermenting, carboys for secondary, bottles for storage.
I brewed extract kits with specialty grains for two years and have now brewed all-grain for over a year.

This recipe calls for four months of aging. What is aging? How is it done in kegs vs bottles?
Been brewing for a few months now, and have not yet come across anyone aging their beer.Aging

Looks good! (aka UGLY). I use the bucket-in-bucket setup myself, and it can't be beat. My old
Craftsman 1/2" drill goes through a grain bill in about 5 minutes, and when I mash, I hit my
    numbers every...

As a friend of mine is in the habit of saying "Don't do that."As a recurring theme in this
thread seems to be drinking before or during brewing, my invariable rule is: no beer drunk
    until the lid's on...

I don't know about the prospects of using the O2 bottle shown, but I can highly recommend the
wand / stone from William's Brewing. It is a stainless steel wand with an SS stone on the end.

I reject "all beers are the same" arguments, which at bottom are like those stated by "brrman,"
no matter how they're dressed up. Until I was in my 50's, I drank the same lagers 90+ percent
    of America...

I'm not completely sure I'm clear on the OP. While some craft beer has become stratospheric in
price, I simply don't buy it. Problem solved. Resenting the brewers or the price the beer is
    sold for boo...

That article is over three years old. I would expect to have seen this system locally* by now,
but I haven't.*Central IL, and we have Schnuck's locally, which is / was evidently an outlet.

You bumped the thread 4 months later for a "so there"? His post was in response to the post
directly before his.Regardless, on the actual topic, I went from partial boils in the pot that

Malric, sorry if I 'flamed' on someone or if you felt slighted. It could be that I was just
letting someone know that a post about first wort hopping with no input regarding the subject
