    ABOUT ME

  • Southeastern US
  • I've been married for over thirty years to a wonderful partner in life. Have two great kids, both in college: oldest (daughter) just finishing up and the youngest (son) just starting.

I'm a Christian living in the Bible Belt who thinks it is not only okay to drink beer, but who thinks making it is fine as well. Unfortunately the state in which I live disagrees with the latter.

  • AOPA; Internet Chess Club
  • Can't really remember what spurred my original entry into home brewing; probably just something I ran across while wandering around the web. I brewed three batches of extract, all pretty good. Then I tried an all grain without the room or right equipment; went bad and I didn't brew again for several (five or so) years. Got back into it when I was down in Mobile and was picking up a wine kit; we (SWMBO & I) had been getting into wines and wanted to try and make a batch. While there, I also picked up a brew kit. This was in the fall of '07.
  • A Sweet Stout is next up, something like a Watney's Cream Stout.
  • Wheat Ale and
    Nottingham Apfelwein
  • Nothing
  • Wee Heavy that's not yet ready and an Amber Ale that'll be gone way too soon.
  • Nails. It was a long time ago, though.

While I've no desire to add mint to my beer (but not knocking it for you), it did make me think
about how to go about such without the possibility of ruining an entire batch. I guess I'm
    wondering on ...

If you are talking about when you move it from primary to secondary, you can; you should boil
the sugar in some water to kill any nasties, then cool down to the temperature of the
    fermenting beer. All...
