Hi everyone, long time no see. I recently did my first all-grain batch, a belgian strong ale,
and it was a tremendous success. In fact, a bit too much so. We got an original gravity of
    1.103, and it f...

I haven't been on in a while (I need to change my signature so it doesn't say this hasn't
happened yet), but the brewoff was a huge, huge success. We brewed at my friend's house, and he
    has two kitche...

I posted a thread recently about my first bad beer, but I wanted to post something about a
truly fantastic beer I brewed. I would encourage people to try something like it. I smoked
    three pounds of ba...

Thanks for the input. We used actual chocolate, and some chocolate malt, but not a ton of
either. I think we used 10 oz. of unsweetened chocolate, and maybe 4 oz. of chocolate malt. We
    sanitize with i...

Well, it finally happened. We brewed a bad beer. Some have been not so great, but this one is
bad. It was supposed to be a chocolate porter, and we did it pretty much the same as the ginger
    chocolate ...

  • Posted in thread: Flip top bottles-can you reseal? on 03-22-2006 at 05:19 AM
I couldn't really figure out how to title this thread, but if you have flip-top bottles,
Grolsch style, and you open a beer, but then recap it, how long will it stay good? My instinct
    says not long, b...

  • Posted in thread: How long can the beer stay safely in the secondary? on 03-22-2006 at 05:13 AM
I don't think you can harm a beer by leaving it in secondary too long. It just clears out
better. The yeast will stop working when it runs out of food and will slowly settle to the
    bottom, but I think...

Johnny Depp--Even when he does a bad movie he does it HIS way. Never the same performance
twice.Meryl Streep--An obvious choice, but extremely talented nonetheless.

1187 after about 12 tries. This is fun! I'm gonna do it again.

  • Posted in thread: Homebrew hangovers worse than with BMC? on 03-21-2006 at 01:42 AM
I've never had a hangover from HB, but it's because I've never gotten drunk off of it alone.
One night though I had three Humble Pie Imperial Stouts (7.5% ABV) and two Seamus's (3.5% ABV)
    before break...
