Posted in thread: California Common with WLP001 on 02-08-2012 at 03:13 AM
I'm not sure I would dry hop a california common but most of the homebrewed examples I have are
nowhere near as hoppy as (fresh) Anchor Steam.I made one once and it was like toothpaste. I
must have ru...Posted in thread: Which yeasts give off banana flavors? on 02-08-2012 at 01:50 AM
W68 (Wyeast 3068 or White Labs 300) gives the most of any yeast I have used. Isoamyl acetate
increases with increased glucose in the wort. There are some German Wheat beer mashing
techniques meant to ...Posted in thread: Flameout Hops vs Dry Hopping on 02-08-2012 at 01:45 AM
Both is best. I like to limit dry hopping to limit grassiness and have moved to rather large
flameout additions over the years. The trick is to keep the wort hot with the flameout addition
in it for a...Posted in thread: Low Alcohol Beer by evaporation on 02-08-2012 at 01:39 AM
I recently saw an article about creating a low alcohol beer by putting the finished beer into
an oven at 180 degrees. The idea is, since alcohol boils at about 172, one could reduce the
amount of alco...Posted in thread: Mark 2 Keg Washer on 02-08-2012 at 01:32 AM
Ah, didn't think about the problem that foaming would cause. So you just take the dirty

Hefehead, any details on the book? I'm quite curious to take a look at it!I think he is talking
about Warner's book on wheat beers in the Brewer's Publications beer styles series.Posted in thread: Has anyone used Brew Clean (similar to PBW) from Keg Connection? on 02-07-2012 at 05:24 PM
I'd guess based on the information that it is sodium percarbonate and sodium meta-silicate or
similar. Basically oxy-clean + "tsp" where "tsp" is meta-silicate and not actually tsp as in
the red devil...Posted in thread: Trouble figuring out BJCP Category on 02-07-2012 at 05:21 PM
I would recommend Drunk Monk Challenge if the goal is good score sheets.Posted in thread: NHC 2012 SEATTLE - Almost Sold out after 24 hrs | SOLD OUT on 02-07-2012 at 03:03 PM
There's a waiting list you can sign up for on the conference website. The AHA expects quite a
few will probably drop out but they probably won't be able to accommodate everyone. They didn't
expect thi...Posted in thread: Using certain hops for bittering on 02-03-2012 at 07:08 PM
I gave a brewer from Boulevard crap the other day because I know they use a lot of Simcoe for
bittering. It's a great bittering hop of course, just rare. I just made an all Citra IPA to
serve at a com...
