I would just put a piece of old plywood, particle board, etc underneath it. The heat transfer
capability of wood is very poor so it should protect your deck fine.

Am I missing something? That's an expensive thermometer! Is there a distinct advantage to this

My wort chiller is a 10 gallon bucket from walmart and 12 1 liter water bottles I freeze

Is your compressor bad? You should hardly be able to hear it once it's running. If it makes a
loud buzzing noise, it's probably blown or on it's way. If it's blown, it emits alot more heat
