Ss304 simply means stainless steel, 304 is one variety. What you're looking for is called a
coupling. Take the part to a hardware store and find one that matches the size but is longer,

I don't think there's any real advantage to one over the other, it depends on what you like or
think is easy. Personally, I use table sugar (about 4.5 oz) so I don't have to buy anything
