    ABOUT ME

  • Sonoma Beerocrats
  • Powell Avenue Brew is our fun little homebrew operation that started in 2010 and it quickly become an obsession. We started with a couple of kits and now we are creating our own all grain recipes. We brew because we love the art of it and love sharing the final product with friends. Stylistically we are into balanced beers that lean slightly to the maltier side. We brew beer that we are interested in and have used ingredients like Chardonnay juice, butternut squash and madagascar vanilla beans.

What about Grolsch style swing-top green bottles? I keg all of my beer but have a RIS I want to
enter in competition?Usually they are looking for unlabeled 12 oz bottles capped with gold,

Yep. Planted Mt. Hood, Goldings, and Willamette last night. Holding out hope for a cascade in
the final plot, but if it doesn't happen there's always next year. We'll see how they come out.
    Now they a...

Ok, you've talked me into it.I have another dumb question. If you're NOT using the pole and eye
hook method to grow them how do you harvest the vine. I will almost certainly plant mine in the
    ground w...

My question relates to yield I guess. How much brewing do I need to do to make it worth
planting? How much will a vine yield and how does that yield convert to a comparable weight of
    pellets?From what...

What could possibly be surprising about a plastic drum with a spigot in it?It's not surprising
in concept but I was just surprised at the cost/ease of use/size elements of it. It's been

It's amazing how fast this thing grows.

Is the pole best or would a rose trellis work? Obviously I'm a neophyte here.If you had a big
enough rose trellis it might work. I'm getting nervous with this possible 25' growth in the
    first year.

I've been trying out a Speidel plastic fermenter for the last few months and I'm really
surprised at the results. I posted a full review on our website at: Speidel Plastic Fementer |
