Last year the California ABC interpreted a then new law that was intended to make homemade wine
legal to donate to charity (a good intention), as making it illegal to donate home brew to a
    brew festiv...

You could always donate your beer to a non profit event/meeting.......including home brew
    clubs.

I would go for it! Usually the deadline for submissions and the actual date of the comp are at
least a week apart. Carbonation is only a minor part of your score. If it tastes good....send
    it in.

There are two ways you can look at the aquisition. The first is that Elysian is a bunch of sell
outs even IF the beer continues to be great. The second way never gets mentioned. That by
    buying stock i...

No boil - not sure I would trust it.Me, I just boil the wort, pour into mason jars, place on
lid, invert to sanitize lid, and let cool. Store in fridge. I know you are supposed to use a

I run our club's competition. We get around 325 entries. Out of the entry fee, we pay for
breakfast and lunch for the judges, stewards and staff. We have done dinner the past. We have
    to buy medals an...

So here is what I still don't understand about comps. The judges/stewards/organizers are all
volunteers, in most cases you "win" a cheap medal or ribbon...best case is some sort of donated
    homebrewing...

I have always thought the same thing! Especially with some of the larger comps where it is not
uncommon for beers to score in the high 30's and not place. Heck THAT should be a gift for the
    judges.......

Well there Ya have it. Makes sense between the gov not making money on it and the safety
issues. In the back of my mind I kinda thought that's what it was. I'm liking my Jockey Box
    idea. They buy the ...

Is it illegal??? Yes the poker game is probably highly illegal...(assuming you are playing for
money). As far as the beer...It depends on your state laws. Personally I have no problem if
    someone wanted...
