Hi, I did a starter couple of minutes ago with a whitelabs english ale liquid yeast. It might
sounds stupid but, what it is supposed to smell (i mean, the yeast tube once open)? Once shaked

+1 for water, my first batch was horribly bitter, not a pleasant hop bitterness. I switched to
bottled water and beer is fine now.

Hi, I'm going to brew a nutty brown ale tomorrow. The person at my HBS ordered flaked wheat
instead of flaked oat. Can I use standard flaked oat I can find in grocery stores or the one

I know, but I was reading a bit of John Palmer's book and he use 2 packages frequently in 5
gallons batches... I was just wondering if it can improve the beer.
