I bought a couple of bottles of Pumpking and measured the SG. It was in the 1.018-1.020 range.
The label says 19* Plato and 8.6% ABV. If you start at 19* Plato (1.079) then you must ferment
it down to...Posted in thread: Tepache Mead on 09-24-2011 at 07:40 PM
Cracked a bottle open today. Barely any noticeable carbonation to it, but it tastes pretty darn
good. Maybe another week of conditioning will lend a few more bubbles to it.Overall, a good
endeavor! I'...Posted in thread: Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions) on 09-24-2011 at 07:39 PM
I'm brewing this in a few days. I asked SWMBO to pick up some Libby's Pure Pumpkin but she got
the pie filling instead . Does anyone know if this will ruin the recipe or will it
substitute j...Posted in thread: Southern Tier Pumking Clone?? on 09-21-2011 at 09:45 PM
I also reached out to a brewer at Southern Tier for some guidance. I showed him the recipe from
the first post in this thread and linked to it in case he was curious to read more, and here's
his reply...Posted in thread: Tepache Mead on 09-10-2011 at 06:46 PM
Going to bottles today. I'm going to prime them and hope for a little additional carbonation.
It tastes great, and despite its low gravity still tastes sweet enough.I wish I'd gone a little

Removed the strawberries and added the gelatin today. Came in right on target at 1010. The
sample I tried was great, and my girlfriend really liked it. The strawberry aroma is fantastic,
and the tartn...Posted in thread: Tepache Mead on 08-08-2011 at 04:15 AM
Moved to the secondary with the additional spices today. I re-pitched a second packet of yeast
a couple weeks ago. Consequently, this dried out almost completely (went from 1082 OG to 1004
FG). Surpri...Posted in thread: Strawberry Alarm Clock v3.0 (Strawberry Blonde) on 08-08-2011 at 04:11 AM
Brewed up a batch of this today. Had some crisis with the mash tun leaking madly from its
spigot, so I had to go with a half-assed brew-in-a-bag method in the kettle. Hit the target
gravity at the end...Posted in thread: Tepache Mead on 06-26-2011 at 09:51 PM
I just made this guy yesterday. Used the Piloncillo that the recipe prescribed. It's a bit slow
on the bubbling, but this is the first mead-type concoction I've made, so that might be
normal. This does...Posted in thread: Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions) on 09-08-2010 at 07:32 PM
Just brewed this last night! I found organic pumpkin pie at Publix for about $2.50 a can.Did
you use pumpkin pie mix or straight canned pumpkin? The mix will have the spices in it already,
so you'll p...
