it wont explode unless its capped. thats part of the airlocks job..to let the CO2 escape while
keeping out the O2. if you were to cap it, you would have a different situation.

install it on whichever round side you want. if it works better facing the rear of your strand,
you can always turn it...i think most people want to have it up front so they don't have to
move or turn...
