Yeah, I tried the Patriot Lager BASIC refill and it was nothing like it - but to be fair I was
a beta-tester and I think they've worked on it. Given the packaging on it, I'd be willing to
bet that if ...Posted in thread: Acetylaldehyde in Imperial IPA - Tastes Like Granny Smith Apple on 08-30-2012 at 09:31 PM
Also, when you say fermented at 70, do you mean temp of the liquid or ambient? If ambient, the
liquid temp was likely 74-78, which is a little high.I'd be curious about this too.
Fermentation temp isn...Posted in thread: Need Hefeweitzen Help on 08-24-2012 at 06:37 PM
Hefeweizens are also the reason I got into homebrewing, after discovering them the first time I
visited Germany. They are easier to find here in the states these days, but they're also a lot
of fun to...Posted in thread: When to add hops to boiling wort?!? on 08-23-2012 at 09:58 PM
So is the addition of the hops after the hot break or after the wort starts to boil? When does
the 60 mins start for the hop schedule? This is going to sound like an obnoxious answer, but the
60 minute...Posted in thread: My thoughts/review on my first brew with Mr. Beer kit on 08-23-2012 at 09:32 PM
I really think fermentation temperature control is the most important factor in producing good
beer, no matter what size batches you're brewing.I've been pretty unhappy with a few Mr. Beer
batches I'v...Posted in thread: Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions on 08-23-2012 at 09:06 PM
It looks like the full lineup of the new refill kits is now up on the Mr. Beer site. There's 3
distinct levels of kits (maybe 3.5?):"Standard": $15.95-17.953.7 % ABV, single 1.87 lb can of
HME; 10 var...Posted in thread: Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions on 02-21-2012 at 02:04 PM
I was going to batch prime my stout i have in a few days and was thinking about using brown
sugar. I was hoping for some advice on how much to use for a regular 2.4-2.5 gal batch. I like
to use the Ta...Posted in thread: Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions on 02-17-2012 at 03:36 PM
fbd: I don't really have the personal experience to advise you on how a partial-volume
all-grain boil would work out; someone else will have to comment on that, sorry. As for the
hops, that rolling boi...Posted in thread: Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions on 02-17-2012 at 03:16 PM
This might be a little advanced for this thread, but I'm looking to move into an all-grain
setup, using the Mr Beer kegs as fermenters. I simply don't drink enough beer to warrant
brewing 5 gallons at...Posted in thread: Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions on 02-28-2011 at 06:55 PM
By the by, what are the realistic chances a homebrew beer would make you hurl or get otherwise
sick? What everyone else has said pretty much answers this, but I did want to add that some
people do reac...
