  • When I turned 21 I would bring buttweisers over to my parents house whenever I went over until one day I tried Sam Adams Cream Stout and HATED it, so I gave the others to my dad and he loved it and started getting into craft brews. We went to lunch at Lazlo'sEmpyrian Brewery in Lincoln, NE one day and I had their Better World Wheat beer which got me interested. Nowadays I've finally gotten my palate for stouts and barley wines and the like.rnrnMy dad started home brewing before me and got me the 1 gallon starter kit from Northern Brewer for christmas last year. I did five extract kits in that set up then bought the Brooklyn Brew Shop book and have started doing all grain. I found out the hard way that stove top mashing is a pain, so I built a mini mash tun out of a 2 gallon beverage cooler that seems to work pretty well. Also I use a pizza pan with holes in it (for a crispy crust) to help spread my liquid out over the grain during the sparge. Once I have a job and we are living somewhere more permanently I want to move up to 5 gallon batches and maybe build a HERMS brewery.
