    Forgot this edit: if you can, bypass your softener. As Palmer says, you probably need the
    calcium it removes and you don't need the added sodium.

    There's absolutely nothing wrong with dry yeast. The op didn't give any info on his brew,
    besides the yeast isn't working. Maybe he pitched at to high of a temp, he was asked about his
    ph, no response...
