  • I've been brewing for about 10 years. I started like most people with an extract setup that my wife purchased from B3. Little did she know that $100 setup would turn into much more. I've been brewing all grain for 7 or so years. I recently completed a dedicated 2 tier brew rig for 5 and 10 gallon all-grain batches.

Just be careful not to let the rubber propane hose touch the flashing for very long while
running the burner. The hose can melt, I know this from experience. That made for a long brew

Jay, I created a stand out of pieces of Unistrut, brackets and fittings that were
"appropriated" from the dumpster of our local electric utility. They just throw this stuff out.
    Here's my pros and con...

I use pellet hops almost exclusively. Actually I've only used pellet hops, but I do use the 5
gallon paint strainer hop bag. Will this be a problem if I still use the hop bag and a
    bazooka?I might jus...

See, even on that sucker, the legs could have been 6-8" shorter. You could also integrate a
small step so you can get up and stir the mash easier. I like it though, nice and compact. You
    are correct ab...

Here's my 2 tier design that allows for both batch and fly sparging with one pump. I can still
see into the mash tun on top and it takes up less space horizontally in my garage. Not a design
    for every...

Taste is always a personal preference.Of course it is. My point was that some people like spicy
    and bitter together.

Also, when adapting a PA recipe just make sure that you go light on bitterness. As anyone who
has ordered the wrong beer at an Indian restaurant knows, spicy and bitter do not mix.Must be a
    personal p...

Thanks Wayne, that makes sense. Unfortunately, my burners are a bit different and I don't think
I can get the sparker to reach up over them. I'm still messing around with this.

Here's my B3 1550 clone. I built it from uni-strut that my neighbors "found" at work. The
pictures are kind of dark but it's all I have. I'll take some better pics tonight after I
    finish some mods.
