Olive oil contains unsaturated fatty acids as does many yeast nutrient packages. There may be
some scientific basis for the olive oil addition. I say give it a try.

I wouldn't say pointless. It at least shows that the non-aerated beer tasted better and the oil

Here is a good experiment showing the merits of using olive oil vs oxygen aeration. have
personally used olive oil without any issues. One drop of olive oil when hydrating the dry
yeast works great. ...
