    ABOUT ME

  • I love my family, music, friends, and the outdoors. I also love freedom and individual liberty, which is why I'm voting Ron Paul 2012.
  • Home brewing, fishing, listening to good music, reading, and various others.

  • Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Beatles, Mumford and Sons, The Black Keys
  • I like a lot of movies, although a lot of today's movies from Hollywood are propaganda.

  • 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Real Lincoln:
  • Our craft beer selection is rather limited in Oklahoma, so I gave brewing my own a shot. Plus, it sounded fun (and it is!).rnrnAfter about a year hiatus from brewing (due to my first two batches not turning out due to: 1) pitching at too high of a temp. and 2) adding some artifical watermelon flavor to the priming bucket straight from the vial), I decided to give it another go. I'm glad I did. After five extract w/ SG batches, I made the move to AG. No turning back now. I'm hooked.rnrnI just got set up for kegging with a three tap keezer. Pretty stoked about it.

Yeah I kind of thought that if anything, head retention will suffer the most. I hate when I
make brewing mistakes. It's hard to RDWHAHB when it's all frozen!

So in the process of kegging a batch last night, I somehow left the probe to the temp
controller hanging out of the keezer. It tried and tried to get my whole garage down to 40
    degrees...but only mana...

I have one of these on my key ring: It has come to the rescue many times.

Since you don't have time to make a starter with liquid yeast, I would just rehydrate a packet
of Safale 05 for the style you're brewing. Safale 05 is a good dry yeast. I've used it many
    times. Good l...

  • Posted in thread: Low Bottle Carbing Temperature on 02-11-2013 at 04:07 AM
If you sanitized everything properly, carefully controlled your temp when you pitched, and
controlled the fermentation temp, then the beer is most likely just green (and probably not
    fully carbed). I ...

It's a good kit. Smooth as silk. Coffee is present, but plays the background. Pretty subtle in
my opinion. NB's Nukey Brown Ale might be better suited for your tastes since you're not fond
    of coffee f...

Just wanted to chime in regarding the Paleo eating lifestyle. Paleo is definitely not the new
fitness "religion". People who speak negatively of it have most likely never stuck to it long
    enough to re...

Brewed the extract version on Saturday. I was lazy and didn't make a starter. Pitched a vial of
WLP013 (London Ale) straight into the bucket. Once it got going, it really took off. I had to
    change the...

I've read through quite a few pages, but I can't see where anyone asked about using Safale 04.
I have a yeast cake of it left from when I racked off a 5 gal batch of Biermuncher's
    OktoberFAST on 10/8/...
