My only major concern at this point is that if I don't change times or hop amounts from the
recipe, then according to BeerSmith I'm going to have over 300% of the target IBU... That seems
    a bit extrem...

So then would the best solution be to do a single application of .5oz hops, and boil for 50
minutes (which is close to the total number of minutes the original recipe calls for?) That way
    the bitterne...

I know this has been addressed before, but I can't seem to figure out (confidently) the

  • Posted in thread: Are Mexican Coke bottles strong enough for yeast soda making? on 05-18-2010 at 05:11 AM
I would say, almost definitely. But be aware that not all mexican coke bottles are the same. I

    they're in th...

Rather than working on your regulator, it would be easier to chill the beverage and then add
the CO2. You'll get roughly the same amount of carbonation in the drink using 18 PSI at 40 F as
    you will us...

  • Posted in thread: silly carbonation question on 05-12-2010 at 08:55 AM
My guess is that the commercial soda is more highly carbed, so shaking it causes the co2 to
come out of solution when opened, making a soda geyser.Wouldn't the vessel/2 liter bottle
    ultimately reach e...

I've been wondering for a while and figure I'll just go ahead and ask ;)If I force carb some
root beer in a 2 liter, I can expel the air then stick it on CO2 @ 40psi, disconnect and shake.
    Connect, di...

  • Posted in thread: No carbonation in root beer! Help! on 05-10-2010 at 11:38 PM
Stick with it and you'll get carbonation. It took me several tries with soda, and I honestly
don't know why. And I certainly never opened one and had it come spewing out like I'd read
    about. Even now ...

So the long line will actually lower the pressure or what? How's the theory behind that work,
I've heard of it before but don't quite understand. If you haven't poured a glass for a day or
    two, how muc...
