In practice, not really. The only real consideration is making it so you can get the false
bottom in and out easily.

You want your HERMS coil to be the same diameter as the rest of your plumbing.

Look up a HERMS process diagram and things should become more self explanitory. There should be
two ports on the mash tun if he was running it right.
