I have one of the old 5 gal galvanized wash tubs that I use. Set the tank in and pour 2 or 3
gals of water in, the water doesn't have to be hot. Works great.

There we go. I thought that might be the case. It looks like either method will work. 3.8 Alpha

Uh, not quite. You divide 5 by 3.8 and multiply that by .5. You need about 1/3 oz of the 3.8%

Thanks for everybodys help with this.The hydrometer sample was clear and had a beer odor. It
tasted like beer only flat. Alcohol was noticable but not overpowering and no off tastes.
