    ABOUT ME

  • brewing,wooden boats,golf
  • I started brewing in the early 1990s with a home brew kit purchased from James Page Brewery in MN. My second daughter was born in 1996 and I stopped. I had accumulated about 12 Coke (pin connector) kegs, a keggle, a full yeast culturing lab and had just started to buy parts for a RIMS. I sold everything except a new pump and two brand new 10gal coolers. I started brewing again in 2009.

Being a woodworker, I went that route. My rig is two tiers, but when rolled up to my kettle
(sitting on the propane burner, which is sitting on the garage floor) it becomes a three tiered
    system. Duri...

Ah, capacity and expansion are always a good sign at a brewery! If you ain't expanding, you're
going under. Congrats on all the success :mug:

No, the old compressor just stopped working. The fan would work, but the compressor never
kicked on. So, I cut the cord off and threw it away. I wish there was a way to recycle crap
    like that.

Half correct. The probe from the STC1000 is in a thermowell inside a 1L bottle of water.

Several months ago, I had to buy a new 5000BTU AC unit for my fermentation cabinet. The cabinet
is 4x4x4 and has foam insulation lining the 4 walls, the ceiling and the doors. The floor has
    about 3.5-...

I run mine the full mash. It is controlled by a PID and one it reaches temp, it just flickers
off and on. The one thing I have changed is I now place my probe directly into the mash instead
    of the the...

I know this does not help...or maybe it will: If it were me, I'd just buy another pump and use
the old one for future parts.

I've seen two Psycho Brew Systems including their 5BBL system and a Stout system that was
either 3BBL or 5BBL. Both seemed to be quality systems. The Psycho Brew 5BBL was less than $20k
