- I started off doing extract kits in my kitchen. I've done one 5 gallon all grain, and a few smaller AG batches and partial mashes. I typically make yeast starters, and have a freezer that I use as a ferm chamber. I tried a few wines (Edwort's Apfelwein, Skeeter Pee, etc) and have come to the conclusion that I don't like wine very much. I've started making mead recently, perhaps that will change my opinion.
- some kind of Triple, NB Oatmeal Cookie Brown Ale
- a mesquite show mead (1g), a cyser (1g), a currant cider (1g), an apple cider (1g)
- Chateau Northern Lambic Grand Cru, Cream Ale
- Vienna / Hersbrucker SMaSH Lager, Dark Harvest, Pumpkin Bourbon Dubbel (Gluten-Free), Papazian's ginger mead, What the Helles Munich Lager, NB Schwarzbier, NTOLERANCE's Easily Amused (third batch), JOAM, Grapefruit Mead, Pyment
- Brandon O's Graff (but it's still conditioning), U Fleku Dunkel Lager Clone (AHB)

I find these recipes for cider finish pretty hot. 7-8 percent alcohol. What would a 5% final
alcohol recipe look like for this Graff? I made this Graff a few months back like it but still
a little too...Posted in thread: Measureing ABV without OG on 04-09-2013 at 11:25 PM
At this point it is just a WAG or a SWAG. You can assume that your brew software will predict a
pretty close OG. If you know what efficiency you get it is usually pretty close. I know that I
am usuall...Posted in thread: Arsenic in Beer - Filtering to Blame on 04-09-2013 at 11:17 PM
It turns out that any beer or wine that's clear has been filtered to strain out plant matter,
yeast and anything else that would leave a drink looking unappealingly cloudy.I have to
question this. My ...Posted in thread: Measureing ABV without OG on 04-09-2013 at 10:59 PM
I made 9.5 gallons (supposed to be 11, but I messed up) of centennial blonde ale on Sunday. Due
to numerous problems, I was pretty frazzled when I got everything into fermenters, and I forgot
to measu...Posted in thread: PSA: Check Everything! on 04-07-2013 at 05:13 PM
I was doing some all-grain brewing in my kitchen today. Here are two problems I ran into. I
thought posting them here might help out others.1. When you are heating up your sparge water,
make sure the ...Posted in thread: Vienna Lager on 03-27-2013 at 01:32 AM
I've made two Vienna Lagers, so clearly I'm a world-class expert on this topic. I'll comment on
a few parts of your recipe. The first one was a mix of Vienna and Munich, the second was 100%
Vienna. I t...Posted in thread: Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider) on 03-19-2013 at 10:31 PM
Oh I see, well what would be a good quality apple juice to use?I used organic apple juice from
the USA and from New Zealand that I found at BJs (local discount club store, like Sams Club or
Costco). M...Posted in thread: Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider) on 03-18-2013 at 11:59 PM
I was excited to brew some Graff for my next endeavor but these last few reviews have been
quite discouraging... I had thought that this was do-able in just a few weeks to a month but it
seems like it...Posted in thread: Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion on 03-16-2013 at 05:43 PM
Got the braid off. Is it normal for it to be so floppy? I guess I was expecting it to be more
rigid. My braid is pretty floppy.Posted in thread: Philly area Homebrewers on 03-14-2013 at 12:32 AM
If anyone lives downtown, and doesn't have a big place, Home Sweet Homebrew has a decent deal.
I think they call it "virtual sacks". Basically, you buy a sack, but only take home whatever
you need. Th...
