  • I had some friends who were into homebrewing so I asked my wife for a starter kit for Christmas. Now, I've almost brewed my tenth batch. My previous batches are:
    Brewferm's Dry Irish Stout
    Brewferm's Framboos
    KHS Nut Brown Ale
    KHS Oktoberfest
    KHS Winter Warmer
KHS Winter Warmer (modified) (currently in primary)
KHS English IPA (modified for higher alcohol) (not started)

I've never used one... Is that weird? I've brewed some pretty big batches without a problem.

Thanks for the responses. Can anyone recommend a extract/partial mash? recipe that will be
ready in time? The two that I've done need extensive time for bottle conditioning. Thanks.

I'm too much of a noob to comment on the beer, but I did want to wish you well on your
vacation. Been there, done that! Be safe over there and give 'em hell!

I think I'm late in chiming in on this one, but here's my two cents... I have left a high
gravity warmer in secondary for close to five months. I then (at a recommendation from my local
    HBS) added som...

Hi All,I typically brew my Christmas Warmer in June/July, but, regretably:(, I haven't brewed
anything this year. Is it still possible to brew a legit Warmer... something with a little kick
    that still...

Hi All, How long can a high gravity ale remain in the secondary before I should be concerned
that there won't be enough yeast in suspension to carbonate in a bottle?

Is that exacly why you would use a temp controller? You set it at a certain temp and leave
it...? Then , nothing would freeze. Maybe I'm missing something?

Thanks... I saw that but didn't think to remove it. Did you take any steps to fill that hole
back in after you run your stuff through it? Should I worry about cold air leaking out? Once my
    conversion ...

I finished my conversion last weekend, and I tried adding the Ranco tonight. From what I've
read, the temp probe is fed through the drain hole in the back. I've removed the drain tray,
    but I can't see...

I'm currently using Petrol Gel. On the Petro Gel label is says that it is U.S.P. Mineral Oil
along with other USP ingredients. See PetroGel. They even offer a free sample on the site.
