Posted in thread: What kind of mold or spore is this? on 12-24-2011 at 12:16 AM
My question is is mold always fuzzy or green?.Because i had a thin white paint like flakey film
on a few of mine, I tried to skim them but it was near impossible and was wondering if those
could be fr...Posted in thread: Kitchen sink beers on 12-23-2011 at 09:38 PM
So with how busy the holidays can be, it can be difficult to get a brew day in around the end
of the year. And since I didn't have the time to formulate a recipe, I decided to throw
together a kitchen...Posted in thread: New to this and probably messed it up... on 12-01-2011 at 01:41 PM
No worries. There is plenty of yeast in suspension to do the job. A secondary "fermentation"
isn't really a fermentation per-se, more just the yeast cleaning up after itself when its done
fermenting.Posted in thread: planning brews for a party in January! thoughts? on 10-22-2011 at 04:12 PM
For timing out my brews, I have my Google calendar open and look for when I want the beer to be
ready. I count back 5 weeks if I plan on bottling or two months if its a bigger beer. Then I
create even...Posted in thread: Spent Grains on 09-24-2011 at 04:03 PM
I'm surprised this hasn't been said yet in this thread, buy it bears repeating every time our

Hopefully it'll come out good.Posted in thread: Stuck Fermentation: a Success Story on 09-09-2011 at 06:18 PM
I'd rather figure why it stuck then develop methods of un-sticking. I've been lucky and never
had a stuck AG batch. Only hit the 1.020 wall with extracts.Get some iodine and some chalk and
look up how...Posted in thread: Holiday Brews on 08-14-2011 at 07:31 PM
I'm currently mashing my Russian Imperial Stout. Hoping to have it ready by November. Next week
I'll prolly make my pumpkin ale for October/November. Week after that will be Christmas ale. I
plan on b...Posted in thread: Sour Apple Saison? on 08-14-2011 at 02:24 PM
Never made a saison before, but an interesting idea would be to brew 4 gallons of a base saison
(sour mash maybe) and then add fresh apple cider mid fermentation. Make sure the cider is
pasteurized, c...Posted in thread: A word of warning with unpasturized cider on 07-31-2011 at 04:43 PM
This mistake might be a godsend. Let it ride down till about 1.020 - 1.010 then draw a sample,
if it tastes decent, draw another sample, cold crash the sample and read up on yeast washing.
