  • Googled about homebrewing after a friend shared one of his homebrews. Just surfed around for a year. Purchased basic equipment Fall of 2011. Brewed 4 kits: Nut Brown Ale, American Wheat, Smashing Pumpkin Ale from Northern Brewer and B3 Stout from Morebeer. As of 9/23/12, I brewed my first all-grain recipe using BIAB. I plan to stick with BIAB. I hope to move into electric brewing very soon.

Looks great. I feel sort of stupid. You started a thread a few days prior to this one in which
you mentioned this system and asked if anyone had had any experience with it. I posted back
    with a few th...

One thing you might want to consider is cutting the entire top of the keg off at the weld where
the upper skirt is welded to the keg. Here's the link to what I did: in the thread, I admit
    that I wish...

I used this one before upgrading: to machine, comes with a back-plane. I recommend. That looks
good. I like the perforated back plate so that you don't have to drill holes for the
    components. But . . ...

Thanks for the responses. My goal is to keep this relatively simple and BIAB seems to provide
that simplicity! I hadn't looked at the 2 vessel systems and was hoping to only have to buy one
    large pot ...

How would you lift the bag with a hoist without a basket?Just as it doesn't make sense to put
together a setup consisting of 3 5-gallon vessels in order to perform 2-3 gallon brews, it
    makes me wonder...

First off, I hope I don't offend anyone by my attempt at modifing one of P-J's (most excellent)
drawings to allow the use of an SSVR.I like the idea of using a knob to control the boil vs. a
    PID's man...
