Posted in thread: Silicone Tubing - Odor after autoclaving on 09-01-2012 at 12:25 AM
Hmm. It was tap water, but the way I did it the tubing wasn't submerged in it. It was sitting
on a top of the jars. Is that an issue? In terms of being clean, I'm probably okay there. I
only use it fo...Posted in thread: Silicone Tubing - Odor after autoclaving on 08-31-2012 at 01:16 PM
Some of my silicone tubing had gone through quite a bit of use and then sat around in my garage
for awhile. I was using my pressure cooker to santize a few other things anyway, so thought I
would thro...Posted in thread: Estimate of Viability Lost During Shipping? on 05-24-2012 at 11:29 PM
Is there any general guidance on how much yeast viability is lost when yeast is out of
refrigeration for a day?I always wonder how much viability is lost when I order yeast online --
it's about 2 days...Posted in thread: Why does my slurry keeping forming a new krausen? on 05-13-2012 at 07:46 PM
Thanks for sharing. I am thinking maybe I should not chance it then... I can always get some

Boiling a 5 gallon batch in a 6.5 gallon pot is going to be impossible. You will need about 6.5
gallons pre-boil to achieve 5 gallons to the fermenter. You may want to start out with 4 gallon
batches,...Posted in thread: Can someone help me transfer from kits to all grain? on 04-21-2012 at 08:31 PM
Look at the stickies at the top of this thread. Lots of good starter info to introduce you to
the different methods.Posted in thread: First All Grain Batch on 04-21-2012 at 07:44 PM
If you can, try to minimize splashing between the bucket and pot. Hot side aeration is debated
on here.... not really knowing how big a deal it is, I just tried to minimize it when I
transferred but d...
