    ABOUT ME

  • New to homebrew. Slow learner
  • Got into the hobby after Christmas 2011. Have done two prepackaged kits so far. A truebrew red ale and a truebrew porter.

Both came out with a bad extra taste in them. Pretty sure I screwed them up b/c I steeped at way too high a temperature

My first success! An oatmeal stout from Brewer's Best.
  • Just started fermenting an irish red.

I posted this as my comments on the beer on the AHS site. In retrospect, I think my OG reading
was wrong because the beer has no indication of being that out of "whack". If you really are
    trying to du...

I kegged the AHS Chocolate Orange a couple of weeks ago. Its on CO2 right now. First off a
caveat: It did not ferment fully. The ABV is way too low in the 3.9 - 4.0 range. It just never
    took off and I...

FWIW, I made a mini-mash of the AHS recipe referenced by Firstnten several weeks ago. I'll keg
it this weekend and tap it around Thanksgiving. I'll let everyone know how similar it is to the
    Sam Adams...

I've got a dual tap edgestar kegerator and because of the beers I'll have on tap this fall,
have a need to have one tap CO2 fed and the other Beergas fed. There's only a hole for a single
    gas line thr...

Do I need to worry about having enough yeast left to eat the sugar since I 2 stage ferment (2
weeks primary 2 secondary) before kegging?

In another week I'll be kegging my second brew (5th overall). The irish red I kegged first came
out great (other than I should have been a bit more aggressive force-carbing it. It recovered
    and got to...
