  I do this often, but i do squirt a bit of co2 in the carboy to purge some oxygen out of the
  headspace.Never had an issue.

  Thanks for the quick replys guys. I went ahead and added 1 gallon of water to lower that
  gravity just a bit. continued to ferment fine after the little interruption. I think i will try
