  • Posted in thread: Would this HERMS system work? on 12-27-2014 at 09:39 PM
No reason it wouldn't. I personally would use the triclamp element kit from Brewhardware.c
instead of Kal's. The kettle you are buying has a triclamp fitting for the element, Kal's is
    designed to be w...

Just going on what the outlet face looks like. I'm assuming (maybe erroneously) that the
electrician used the correct outlet. Is there anyway to tell whether the guy wired it hhg
    rather than hhn?Looki...

All of my Amazon stuff has been delivered, including those pesky volt/amp meters that had a
delay. All of my other orders have been shipped, except the Brewershardware stuff (and the

  • Posted in thread: RIMS vs HERMS...Your opinions please on 12-23-2014 at 01:55 PM
Happy medium is running a 5500w element switchable between 240v and 120v. 1375w for maintaining
temps, 5500w for heating cleaning water, sparge water, etc. Granted I dont have my system

Most people put a mechanical relay in series so that they can say with 100% certainty that the
circuit is not energized. I don't think it is redundant or a waste.

Cost is the biggest thing. Couple hundred bucks for the PC, hundred or two for the monitor. I
was kind of thinking about maybe a Raspberry Pi and a monitor, that might be a little cheaper.

I was thinking of mounting a monitor near the control panel to be able to see temps quickly.
I'm curious about the PIDs. is what I ordered. I did four, probably will do my MLT, RIMS Out,
    HLT, BK, ass...

Kettles are ordered, Ben from Spike Brewing is saying about 2 weeks on those. Panel kit is
ordered, it sounds like Ryan from ebrewsupply will have that to me in time for my day off on
    Friday. The tool...

I know a couple of you have these integrated into your panel. Can someone post a picture of
both the display and the wiring? Brewershardware has these in stock (finally!) and I want to
    order a handful...

Thanks for the response that is helpful. When you talk about controlling other things like
conical, keezer etc. Are those plugging into your panel for power so it can cycle it on and off
    based the pro...
